Today was not as exciting as some other days but I still have a few stories that I hope you will enjoy! I started the day with a walk around the attractions of Sarajevo I had not seen yet. I don't have that many pictures to show you from that walk except this view of the city:
And this church which looks very nice in real but I was a little lazy and only took one shot without realizing that it wasn't the best, oh well too late now!
I walked in front of a museum and everything being quite inexpensive in Sarajevo I figured it was worth going inside. It wasn't very big but I saw this official city emblem (not sure "emblem" is the right word...) and I was surprised because it's written in German:
I spent quite some time today to plan how I'm going to spend the remaining days of my trip. I don't know if you are aware of that but I will be coming back to Ottawa on May 23, meaning I have exactly 2 weeks left!! Time goes by too fast!! I'm glad I took the time to do some planning because now I have a pretty good idea of where I'm heading to for the next two weeks! (just a few more details that need to be finalized but my next destinations are 95% confirmed)
Now, let me tell you about the highlight of my day: my visit inside a mosque! I never went inside a mosque in my whole life, I was so excited! I took pictures of everything (good thing the mosque was not too big!) For those of you who are wondering what they look like, here's the interior of one of them:
Of course the muslim religion requires women to cover their head. I knew that so I had planned accordingly! Even though it is 25 degrees outside, I had brought my jacket which has a hood so I was allowed to go in :)
Muslimized Claudie:
Speaking of muslims, I'm starting to know what time the prayers are because every evening at 8 and 9:45 there's some guy outside who starts singing some arabic thing, I'm assuming that's the call for prayer. It's very interesting I feel like I'm in Middle East!
On my way back to the hostel I have to walk through those little shops that I was mentionning yesterday, I got tempted by a jacket so I bought it:
The sleeves are slightly too short, I forgot to bargain for it so I paid too much, but it's very warm and it says Sarajevo so I'm happy! When I bought it of course I spoke in the local language so the lady said to me "you speak very good Bosnian". In my head I thought "Oh? I thought I was speaking to you in Croatian!" but out loud I answered "Thank you!" I kind of knew that there was a language called Bosnian but when I arrived here and everybody spoke almost the same way as in Croatia, I assumed it was a slight variation of Croatian. I didn't realize it was called Bosnian. I'm happy, I can add one more language to the list of languages I know, yay!
