I promised yesterday that I was not going to talk about the war anymore. After speaking with a friend, it seems like I made a big mistake and I owe some apologies.
I realize now that I probably should never have brought up the topic of what happened in ex-Yugoslavia in 1991 onward at all. I could keep researching, and keep bringing up stuff that I find indefinitely. I'm sure many people on all sides have also lots to say. There was lots of wrongdoings done during the war. Someone on the English version of the blog sent me a lengthy comment with a few names of Bosnians who allegedly have done much harm to the Serbs: Naser Orić, Mušan "Caco" Topalović, Jusuf "Juka" Prazina, Ismet "Ćelo" Bajramović... There is also a story about a Serb family in Bosnia killed as they were having lunch ("Last lunch of the Ristovics" on Google). I will let you do your own research if you wish to. Feel free to read the original comment, it's on yesterday's post.
As for me, I am now staying away from this complicated story. I really only wanted to be informative and never meant to cause any harm. I know now that harm was done. I can't turn back time, what was said was said. I apologize for bringing all these stories up. I suppose we should all look toward a brighter future instead of talking about resentment from the past. I'm honestly sorry for everything... Blame it on my youth, innocence, desire to help but also foolishness. As they say, hell is paved with good intentions.

Today I was lucky enough to meet a really cool girl on my way back from Romania. She got picked up at the same hostel where I was and because of that, we ended up talking for almost all the ride. She was going to the bus terminal in Belgrade to get to another place (I forget where now), and she invited me to have lunch with her before leaving. The lunch plan didn't end up working quite as expected but I still had a drink with her before she left. She was quite nice and we got along very well! Sometimes it's funny how you meet awesome people because I wasn't suppose to go to Romania, she wasn't supposed to come to Timisoara, yet we ended up in the same car to come back to Belgrade. I'm happy that I made one more friend here and she assured me that she will one day come to Canada. Or maybe I will come back around here and meet her again :)
Tomorrow I'm off to my very last destination before coming back to Belgrade for another few days and leaving for Canada. I'm excited about this new place and I spend most of the afternoon trying to teach myself the basics of the language of my new destination so that I don't feel as helpless as in Romania. I assure you, this was no easy task. For example, learning Romanian numbers took me approximately 10 minutes (unu, doi, trei sounds very much like the familiar French un, deux, trois). The numbers I was learning today were: egy, kéttö, három, etc. This language does not resemble ANYTHING I've seen before... If you have not yet guessed where I'm going, I guess you'll see tomorrow!
